Alpine winters are hard on outside surfaces. Grit, salt, meltwater and shade combine to leave stone green and slippery and façades streaked with algae. We clean it back, at a pressure matched to the material rather than a single setting for everything.

Gutters, twice a year
Gutters are the single cheapest thing to maintain and the most expensive thing to ignore. Blocked in autumn, they overflow and freeze; blocked in spring, meltwater backs up under the roof edge and finds its way into the timber.
We clear them at both ends of winter — after the leaves have dropped and again once the snow is off the roof — and photograph anything that looks like it needs a roofer before it becomes one.
